Gone

Well, I haven't actually updated my account here for a while, so I thought it was high time to remove all my content and post links for where everyone can find me now.

I never liked the way that deviantArt operated -- from people plagiarizing other people's work, to the over edited and creatively lacking images that are pretty abundant on the site, to the suggestions to "photoshop" certain elements out of photos, I've had enough.

I will miss the friends that I've made here who did have wonderful work. I'm keeping my favorites so that I can browse some of the work here when I come back for to visit. (And if any of you are on flickr, add me or send me a message :)

I do post regularly on Flickr, which I've found to be a much more supportive and, well, "grown up" environment: username 'tiny.turk' - [link]

I'm also selling my prints on Etsy: username 'tinyturk' - [link]

And, as always, I can be found on my website: [link]

Hope to see some of you around!

REAL Art, not deviantART

so i dont know about everyone else, but i'm kind of getting sick of dA. while i enjoy seeing new work from familiar faces, i find it harder and harder to find new and exciting work outside that small circle. it seems like everyone is just following the same formulas for "success" -- but it's a strange and pretty limited success... people have become rather good at being able to predict what other dA-ers will like and will comment on, favorite, etc. and have allowed that to influence both their work and what they post here.

people are over photoshop-ing (yeah i just verbed photoshop...and verb :p) and being, well, not really creative instead taking the same subjects or same types of pictures over and over again. and to add insult to injury, those who do not photoshop the crap out of their work are, well, mostly overlooked.

so, to all of you who still struggle to polish a single photo the old fashioned way, or to bust your ass - well, hands more accurately - on drawings, paintings etc, or those who bother to sit down, write something with true passion and work tirelessly to edit, revise and make your work better, i applaud you! and i also encourage you to continue, though you may not receive quite the same amount of enthusiasm from your peers. your work is beautiful and it shows!
